NYSDOCS Clinton Correctional Facility Proposed Expansion Wetland MitigationJ. Kenneth Fraser and Associates, P.C.
Rensselaer, NY
Bagdon Environmental conducted an extensive analysis of potential wetland mitigation sites for impacts to wetland that would result from the proposed expansion of the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York. This analysis included review of existing Department of Corrections land both off-site and adjacent to the facility to determine the suitability of specific areas for wetland creation. A variety of factors were evaluated including existing wetlands, topography, geology (surficial deposits and depth to bedrock), watershed area, and plant communities to be used for establishment of a successful mitigation wetland.
Bagdon Environmental acted as liaison with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and the Adirondack Park Agency for wetland permitting issues which included potential reduction of impacts and design alternatives for the mitigation wetland. Bagdon Environmental assisted the Office of General Services in preparing permit applications and documentation for the project. The proposed prison expansion has been deferred due to construction of other new prison facilities in the region.
